Excitement Grows

Apologies in advance to all the Michael Bublé haters, but his Christmas album is simply too much of a classic to skip—even for me! It’s also fitting for the occasion, as I’m about to embark on a trip to Prague in the Czech Republic and Dresden in Germany. Don’t worry, though—I’ll be home for Christmas (or well before). Since I’m using up my vacation days now, I won’t have any left for the holidays, so it’s back to work once I return.

I’ve been feeling a mix of excitement and nerves all day. My train leaves at 3:45 a.m., and there’s not much room for delays. Thankfully, the weather looks decent for once—heavy snowfall is notorious for derailing train schedules. Luckily, traveling so early means there shouldn’t be much traffic, so I’m hopeful everything will go smoothly, and I’ll make it to the airport on time.

Once I arrive, the real fun begins! The highlight of this trip is, of course, the Christmas markets. Both Prague and Dresden boast several, and alongside exploring other local sights, I’m excited to dive into the festive atmosphere. I don’t know much about Central European Christmas customs, but I can’t wait to try mulled wine and other local treats while snapping photos of the beautifully decorated markets. Everything is set up so intentionally for a cozy and magical experience, after all!

Most of my evening has been spent packing and making sure my apartment is ready to be left for a week. Watering my plants, unplugging electronics, shutting off water outlets—you know, the usual checklist. While tending to my plants, I noticed my hyacinth has started to bloom! I feel a bit guilty leaving it behind now, but what can you do?

My hyacinth started to bloom! I feel so bad leaving it here alone.
