Who knows how many posts I have written about food, but I am going to keep going! Today’s theme is very suitable for my rest day: food! It was a good choice for the day, since we had a Christmas meal at the office today.
There are many dishes that people consider part of the Christmas table. The most notorious one of them all must be the ham. It is very common to buy a big ham, and cooking it is an extremely common Christmas activity for many families. A very common dish to serve is various kinds of vegetable casseroles that are made from potatoes, carrots, and turnips. The most famous salad on the Finnish table is a beetroot salad called rosolli. The Christmas table is always full of food; apparently, even during the years of shortage, people tried to get the best food to the table.

My personal favourite at the Christmas table is graavilohi, which is salt-cured salmon. I was so happy it was served today as well! The meal was great; I only included a picture of the starter, but we also had a starting glögi, the starters, the main course, and also coffee and cranberry cake. I was rolling back to the office, and it is not even the holidays yet! I am happily eating my ordinary lunch tomorrow.
To celebrate my last office day of the year, I also brought my elf hat again! This time, I remembered to take a selfie with it. I was not even the only one with some gear on today; at least three different people had an ugly sweater on! We also built a Lego spaceship on the coffee break with my coworkers, so I guess I was not the only one already in the holiday mood today.

After the work, it was time to travel to my hometown. I am not the only person doing that; many people living in the larger cities go to their relatives at the holidays. I was a bit early this year, though, and managed to avoid the crowded trains and stations. I am happy with that since I do not like big masses. Despite me finding a less crowded train, I could already notice there were a bit more people on the move than normally.
So now I am here, in my hometown. I am trying to relax a bit since there are a lot of preparations coming in the next few days. I have a helper for that, luckily: my parents’ cat, Jossu, has been very social today and visited me even in the sauna!
