December Makes Me Want to Write

I think I’ve brought this “curse” upon myself.

This year—even this morning, during my long run of the week—I was firmly convinced that I wouldn’t engage in any kind of blogging activity. I was even more adamant that I wouldn’t commit to blogging every day until Christmas. It just takes so much time to write, let alone research something new to write about.

And yet, here I am. It’s 19:37 on the 1st of December, and I’ve given in to the strong urge to document my daily activities for a month, once again. This has truly become a lasting tradition—one I find hard to live without.

Of course, it has its perks. Having all my favorite recipes stored for future use is one of them. It’s also nice to look back at the photos I’ve taken after the season is over. I really should compile some kind of collection from all the years I’ve written about!

To be honest, I’ve been feeling pretty Christmassy for a while now. Finland’s Christmas Radio started over a month ago, and I have to admit, I’ve been listening to it. My favorite channel is the pop one; unlike the default channel, it seems to feature relatively fresh versions of various Christmas songs, which is a nice change.

In any case, the start of December has been lovely. I’ve taken the time to enjoy my Sunday and put up some Christmas decorations. Most of my decorations are items I’ve had for many years, but I’ve decided to keep using them until they wear out. Along with my tablecloths and Christmas lights, I’ve already added a Christmas flower—a hyacinth. It hasn’t opened yet, but in a week or two, it will bloom and give a strong, sweet scent.

I would like to add something new this year, though. I’d especially love to get more winter-themed curtains for my kitchen, as the current ones give off strong summer vibes. However, I’m not planning to buy anything unless I truly love it. Hopefully, I’ll have some time to explore my options soon!
